How to become a member
Membership is open to all Women NGOs, Organisations, Societies, groups, corporate bodies and individuals that fulfil the following conditions namely:
a. The Society must be non-partisan
b. The Society must have as one of its aims and objectives the following:
i. The enhancement of the status of Women, children, youth and disabled;
ii. The promotion of Women’s issues in accordance with Article II of the council’s constitution.
c. The Society must have been in active existence for at least one (1) year.
d. The society shall
i. Have branches in at least (1/2) of the States of the Federation.
ii. Be registered in at least five (5) local government areas (for state branches)
iii. Be affiliated to a State branch
iv. Be affiliated to the National body for diaspora membership)
2. A society shall qualify as Corporate Executive member if and only if:
i. It has branches and five (5) local government areas for state or
ii It has branches in at least twenty (20) States of the Federation to be considered into National Executive Status.
b. Member societies shall be full member organisation fulfilling the requirements as in the
Constitution.
i. These are women voluntary organisations mainly of foreign nations who cannot be members of National State LGA or diaspora Council but have friendly relationship with the council of the area in which they
operate. They will cooperate with such councils to render services, raise fund etc.
ii. Persons whose services might be required by the council by reason of their expertise and other qualities.
iii. Representatives of Associate Members shall not be entitled to vote at conventions and cannot be elected to the governing body of the council. They may however serve on standing committees of the council.
iv. Be a corporate individual with businesses of high repute registered in the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria.
Any member of the society shall be qualified to be a life member if she satisfies the following
i. Must have been sponsored by either any state branch or national body.
ii. Must have been an active contributor to the progress, development and realisation of the aspiration of the council for at least Ten (10) years.
iii. Must have identified with the objectives of the council and with lives and well-being well known by the members of this council that nominated her.
iv. The past National and State President shall automatically become life members after meritorious service.
