The National Council of Women’s Societies (NCWS) has advised Nigerians to abide by the stay at home order of the Federal and State Governments to curb the spread of the novel conronavirus.
Mrs Gloria Shoda (mni), National President of NCWS, gave the advised in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.
She said obeying the lockdown by both Federal and state governments would go a long way to curb the spread and help to trace people that are already infected with covid-19.
According to her, while obeying the stay at home order people must be conscious of proper hygiene such as continuous and proper washing of hands, keeping of the manded distance and monitoring the kids.
”The stay at home order is in our best interest. It is helping us to secure our lives and that of our love ones.
”We are calling on the government to provide welfare to all indigent Nigerians that constitute over 70 per cent of the population. These group of persons should get the palliative from the government.
”Anyone earning less than N50,000 a month is vulnerable and all those earning daily wages and the petty traders should also be considered.
”The payment should start from locked down states so as to encourage other states to do same, so as to reduce the spread of this dreadful virus.
”Please politicizing the distribution of government intervention will only negate the objectives of the exercise, if any section is neglected it can only delay further spread of the Coronavirus to other parts in the future.
”However, the mask, hand sanitizer and other health materials should go to everyone no matter their status because there is shortage of safety materials already.
”We plead with shop owners to please stop escalating prices of medical and preventive materials and food items, Let us be kind to our fellow humans at this crucial time of our lives.
