Lent and Ramadan Message to Nigerian Women

On behalf of the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Nigeria, we extend our warmest greetings to all Nigerian women as we enter the sacred seasons of Lent and Ramadan.

Lent and Ramadan are holy periods of deep reflection, sacrifice, compassion, and renewed devotion to God. They are moments when faith is strengthened, families are drawn closer together, and communities are uplifted through prayer, fasting, and acts of charity. Across our towns, villages, and cities, Nigerian women continue to play a vital role in nurturing homes, supporting communities, and upholding the moral and spiritual values of our nation.

We sincerely appreciate the resilience, strength, and generosity of Nigerian women, especially during these sacred seasons. Whether you are caring for your family, serving your community, leading in your profession, or reaching out to those in need, your contributions remain invaluable and deeply respected.

As we observe Lent and Ramadan, we encourage all women to:

• Deepen their spiritual reflection and seek personal growth.
• Promote peace, unity, and mutual understanding in their homes and communities.
• Extend kindness and support to the vulnerable and less privileged.
• Prioritize their health and well-being while fulfilling their spiritual obligations.

Praying for Our Children to draw Closer to God
As mothers and caregivers, let us also commit our children into God’s hands by praying that they:

• Develop a genuine love for God and a strong personal faith.
• Grow in wisdom, obedience, and good character.
• Are guided protected from negative influences and harmful choices.
• Embrace values of honesty, kindness, humility, and respect for others.
• Find purpose in life and remain steadfast in faith despite challenges.
• Become instruments of peace and positive change in their generation.

At a time when our nation continues to face various challenges, may this season of Lent and Ramadan renew our hope, strengthen our faith, and inspire us to work together for a more just, peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria.

We pray that Almighty God accepts our fasting, prayers, and good deeds; grants us forgiveness; and blesses our nation with lasting peace and progress.
